Obituary of Lydia Ann Hawken

Passed away surrounded by her family at the University Hospital of London on February 2, 2015. Lydia Hawken (nee Jensen) of West Lorne, formerly from Airdrie, Alberta, is survived by her cherished husband and best friend Don, her loving children Curtis (Shelly) of Millet, AB; Tyler of Airdrie, AB; Crysta of Edmonton, AB; and grand children Monica, Brittany, Hope, Jarrod, Gracie and Gavin. Lydia was predeceased by brother Spens, mother Lilly “Bear”, father Knud and granddaughter Lilly. Lydia was an avid world traveller who was always planning the next adventure. She was a beautiful individual both inside and out who touched many lives with her positive attitude and contagious smile. Establishing many life long friends from her active role in the West Elgin Royal Canadian Legion and she will be sadly missed by all her family, friends and her local community. The family would like to thank the health care professionals at the University Hospital of London in the Neurosurgery and Internal Medicine departments for their diligent, compassionate and wonderful care given to Lydia and her family in this time of duress. With lots of cherished memories we all hold dear, family and friends will gather for a memorial visitation on Friday, February 6th from 6-9 pm at the WEST LORNE CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 519-785-0810 where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 1:00 pm followed by the reception generously hosted by the West Elgin Royal Canadian Legion. The interment of cremated remains will take place at the Airdrie Cemetery in Airdrie, Alberta at a later date.
