Obituary of Michel David Bourbonnais

It is with heavy hearts the family of Michel Bourbonnais announces his passing on May 5, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Bourbonnais (2015). Loving father to Shane (Cheryl) Bourbonnais and Joel Bourbonnais. Grandpa to Jaxon, Ava, Nash, Jacob and Ethan. Remembered by his siblings Yvette Bourbonnais, Yvon (Marjorie) Bourbonnais, Dennis (Barb) Bourbonnais, Collette (Gary Zettler) Bourbonnais and Paul Bourbonnais. Survived by nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mike knew the true meaning of team spirit and has been a Canadians fan since he was a boy. Not only did he accumulate the largest selection of Montreal merchandise, but he was also just a fan of the sport. You would catch him early mornings at the rink watching his grandson, and wearing a proud smile of the goalie tradition he started. In the off season you could find him at the beach or camping. He loved the outdoors and always felt at peace when surrounded by it.

His favourite hats to wear were grandpa and dad, and loved to spoil his grand kids in anyway he could and loved his kids just as fierce. Mike was also the best handy man, a Jack of all trades and very talented when it came to the skill of wood working. Mike Spent many hours creating pieces and doing home repairs for family and friends. Mike loved animals, any kind. He and Mags both shared the same passion for animals. It was a toss up of who was going to walk in with a stray or an animal in distress.

In all, Mike, dad, grandpa, brother and friend will be greatly missed. We will hold his memories close and share them often to keep his spirit alive.

A private visitation will be held at Denning’s of West Lorne. If desired, memorial donations to CMHA are appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Denning’s of West Lorne. Share a memory at www.westelginfuneralhome.com (519) 785-0810.
